Hall Hearing Aid Center goes to Guatemala

The Hearing Aid Clinic in Santa Clara La Laguna, Guatemala

For several years, I traveled to Guatemala to test the hearing of children in the Mayan highlands. I trained Miguel Ishelop To, a worker in the medical clinic, to test patients and fit hearing aids.

Miguel utilizes donated testing equipment and hearing aids. He has traveled to the U.S. twice for advanced training in hearing-aid repairs and pediatric hearing testing. Miguel now operates the hearing clinic and services the hearing needs of the greater Mayan region.

I would like to thank George Christos for traveling with me twice to Guatemala to help with the project. Also, thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Rodrigo Salcido for the many times that they journeyed to the clinic with me. Their translations and assistance in helping Miguel to understand new concept was very valuable.

Thanks also to all our friends and customers for donating your old hearing aids to the project. Your hearing aids are refurbished or used for parts - nothing goes to waste. We coninue to collect old hearing aids and ship them to Miguel, so send or bring them in. Your reconditioned aids are sold at very affordable prices to people who could not otherwise afford hearing aids. This collaboration of effort between all of us will help keep the clinic open and serving the people of Guatemala.
